GIF to MP4
Instagram, TikTok and many apps do not accept GIF, while every app takes MP4, which is usually much smaller. The tool opens the GIF in your browser, builds each frame the way the browser shows it and makes an MP4 in which every frame lasts as long as in the GIF. You can repeat the animation as many times as the GIF says, or until the video is 10 or 30 seconds long. The GIF never leaves your device.

Frequently asked questions
Why convert a GIF to MP4?
An MP4 is usually five to ten times smaller than the same GIF, has more than 256 colours, and is accepted by Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp and video editors, which often refuse GIF.
Will the MP4 last as long as the GIF?
Yes. Every frame lasts exactly as long as in the GIF. Browsers show a frame with a delay of 0 for 0.1 seconds, and so does the MP4.
How do I make the video loop like a GIF?
An MP4 does not repeat by itself. On Instagram, TikTok and WhatsApp a short video loops automatically. For other places, choose Repeat to 10 or 30 seconds, so the animation appears in the video several times.
What happens to transparent areas?
MP4 has no transparency, so transparent areas get the colour you choose. White is the default; for a dark background choose black.
Why is the video one pixel wider than the GIF?
H.264 video needs an even width and height. A GIF of odd size gets one more row or column, a copy of its edge, so the difference cannot be seen.
