Sharpen an image

Sharpening boosts contrast along edges, so slightly blurry photos, phone shots, and enlarged images look clearer. Press and hold the preview to see the original. No tool can fully recover a badly blurred image, but moderate sharpening helps a lot.

Frequently asked questions

How much strength should I use?

For photos, start at 60 to 100 percent. If light halos appear around edges, lower the strength or the radius.

What does the radius do?

A small radius sharpens fine detail such as hair and text, while a larger one brings out bigger shapes.

Can the tool fix a photo taken in motion?

Partly. Motion blur is stronger than ordinary softness, so sharpening gives a limited result.
