Compress PDF
Most of a PDF's weight usually comes from photos and scanned pages. The tool recompresses them and lowers their resolution to the level you choose, while text, lines, and fonts stay untouched. For scanned documents there is a stronger mode that stores each page as an image.

Frequently asked questions
Why does a PDF not get smaller?
If the document is mostly text or its images are already heavily compressed, there is little to save. The tool then returns the original so you never get a larger file.
What does Pages as images do?
Each page is stored as a JPG image. The document becomes much smaller, but its text can no longer be selected or searched. Use it for scanned documents.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. Compression happens in your browser and the document stays on your device.
