Size and compression

Compress an image to a specific size in KB

Many portals, job applications, competitions, and e-government forms require an image under an exact size. Enter the limit in KB and the tool tries quality levels and picks the best one that fits under it. If even the lowest quality is not enough, it reduces the dimensions slightly.

Frequently asked questions

How do I enter 1 MB?

Enter 975. The image is then under 1 MB whether the portal counts a megabyte as 1,000 KB or 1,024 KB.

Why did the dimensions change?

If the image does not fit even at the lowest quality, the tool scales it down step by step until it fits. A note on the result says when that happened.

Which format should I choose?

Every portal accepts JPG. WebP gives a smaller file at the same quality, but some older systems reject it.
