Excel to PDF
The tool opens an Excel spreadsheet in your browser and lays it out with the same fonts, colours, borders, merged cells, column widths and number and date formats. A wide sheet is scaled to the page width or split over several pages without cutting a column, and the table header repeats on every page. Your browser's print engine makes the PDF, so it holds real text. The spreadsheet never leaves your device.

Frequently asked questions
What if the sheet is wider than the page?
The recommended Readable size automatically chooses landscape when needed. If text would fall below 60% of its original size, it splits the sheet into full-size column groups. With All columns on the page width, the table is scaled until it fits and the tool says by how much. With Actual size, the table keeps its full size and is split over pages by columns, as in Excel: first every row of the first columns, then the next columns. A column is never cut at the page edge.
Does the header repeat on every page?
Yes. If Excel has rows set to repeat when printing, those rows are used. If not, the first row of the table repeats, and you can turn that off.
Do numbers, dates and formulas carry over?
Numbers and dates keep the formats from the spreadsheet. Formulas show the result Excel saved in the file.
Does it work with XLS and CSV files?
Yes, but as a plain table: text and numbers carry over, while colours and borders from the old XLS format do not. The tool says so next to the result. CSV opens even when it was saved in the Windows-1250 code page.
Are charts and pictures included?
No. The PDF holds the cells of the sheet, and the tool says so if the sheet had pictures or charts.
Why does a print window open?
Your browser's print engine, the same one that prints web pages, makes the PDF. That gives the PDF real text that can be selected and searched. Choose Save as PDF as the destination and turn off the browser's own headers and footers.
